Artist statement:
As a Canadian, Luna Quinlan’s cultural identity is deeply defined by her country’s weather. Living somewhere with four distinct seasons taught her the importance of impermanence. As a result, Quinlan creates her deconstructed world of collages as a method of documenting her memories. Her visual images are meant to amplify the voice of sign language users.
In “Celebrating our Nestlings”, Quinlan shares her interpretation on celebrated beginnings in a bilingual environment. The budding season of spring is a gentle reminder that nothing can flourish without a strong support system.
