The ASL-PHABET is a series of symbols for writing words in American Sign Language (ASL). It represents the handshapes, locations and movements of signs.
By sponsoring a word in ASL you will help us complete the online ASLphabet Dictionary for Kids. It’s simple. Think of a word, complete a quick search of words that have sponsors, if “word not found” it’s available to sponsor.
Your donation is a gift of literacy. Together we can help Deaf children reach their potential, interact with their families, their friends and society – one of the most powerful gifts any child could receive. All donations are eligible for a charitable tax receipt.
The cost is $500.00 to adopt a word. This can be done in several ways:
- Individual donation to adopt a word
- Get a group together to raise $500
- Host a house party to raise $500
- Corporate Companies are encouraged to adopt a word $500 for 3 words
Please note the Canadian Cultural Society of the Deaf is a registered charity in Canada. If you are a U.S. resident donating to our project, please check with your tax advisor to inquire whether your gift is tax-deductible. You may be able to deduct contributions to certain Canadian charitable organizations covered under an income tax treaty with Canada. To deduct your contribution to a Canadian charity, you generally must have income from sources in Canada. See Publication 597, Information on the United States-Canada Income Tax Treaty, for information on how to figure your deduction here.
